Steel concrete form care
Protect the forming edge between pours.
Reusable steel forms perform best when crews clean them promptly, inspect them before setup, and store them so the form edge and connection points are protected.
Before setup
- Inspect the form body, edge, welds, and pockets.
- Check for bends, cracks, heavy corrosion, or damaged connection areas.
- Remove damaged equipment from service until it is evaluated.
- Use only compatible setup hardware in serviceable condition.
- Follow the release-product label and job requirements.
During setup and placement
Support and secure the forming system for the planned work. Do not use a damaged form as a substitute for proper bracing. Keep connection points clear enough to seat correctly and prevent concrete buildup where pieces join.
Clean residue promptly
Concrete residue is generally easier to remove before it fully hardens. Use tools and methods that do not unnecessarily damage the forming face, edge, welds, or pockets. Follow the safety information for any cleaning or release product used.
Inspect after stripping
Look for new bends, damaged welds, distorted pockets, or sharp damaged edges. Separate questionable pieces so they are not returned to the next setup unnoticed.
Store securely and dry
Stack or rack forms so they cannot fall, shift, or be struck by equipment. Support them to avoid avoidable distortion and protect the forming edge. Keep forms dry when practical and maintain the surface according to your approved jobsite process.
Handle and transport for the load
Plan lifting and team handling around the exact form size and weight. Secure forms for road transport and do not rely on loose stacking. Contact us for product-specific weight when preparing a trailer or freight shipment.
